Uniqlo to open giant Guangzhou store

Fast Retailing will open another giant Uniqlo store in China.

The Japanese fashion retailer will operate a Uniqlo store of approximately 10,000 sqm, one of Uniqlo’s flagship stores worldwide, in Victory Plaza shopping mall in Guangzhou.

Meanwhile, Fast Retailing’s other four brands, GU, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam and PLST, are set to debut in China with first stores to open in Shanghai later this year.

The company plans to increase Uniqlo’s international network to 446 by the end of August from current 410.

Uniqlo’s rapid international expansion is part of the company’s strategy to seek business growth overseas as Japanese demand slows due to an ageing and declining population.
