Mirvac brings the beach Harbourside

harboursidemainMirvac Retail’s latest acquisition, Harbourside, will transform Sydney’s Darling Harbour into a pop up beach from January 4 to 22, 2016.

“Harbour pop up beaches are a big thing in Europe and we’re aiming to bring that vibrant and fun atmosphere to Darling Harbour for three weeks in January with the pop up beach,” said Harbourside marketing manager, Nicole Addinall.

“We want to let people know Darling Harbour is open and there are plenty of activities on offer to keep the whole family entertained.”

The Darling Harbour Pop Up Beach, located next to the ferris wheel, will be open from 9am to 9pm. It will feature sand, live music and festoon lighting with shade cover set up between 11am and 2pm by the Harbourside beach patrol.

The centre is also taking part in this year’s Sydney Festival and, over the same period, will house a beach-inspired sculpture of five large seagulls made out of cardboard boxes in its central void. The sculpture is an extension of The People’s Tower being built by Boxwars out of cardboard boxes in Palm Grove, next to the IMAX Theatre.

Harbourside stretches over 240 metres on theDarling Harbour waterfront and was acquired by Mirvac in January 2014.
