Lagardere nabs another portfolio at Sydney Airport

Sydney Airport T2Lagardere Travel Retail has been awarded the news and books portfolio in departures at the T2 Domestic terminal at Sydney Airport.

In September, Sydney Airport commenced work on the next stage of its T2 Domestic terminal, which, when completed will see the introduction of new retail tenancies in the precinct.

Lagardère Travel Retail will now operate 100 percent of the category in T2 Departures and offer a modern selection of brands featuring authors, news publications and travel essentials.

Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Glyn Williams said it had been a competitve tender process.

“Our existing partnership with Lagardere Travel Retail at T3 Domestic has delivered innovative new brands such as Watermark Books & Café; a contemporary spin on a classic news and books offering that incorporates an integrated cafe proudly serving Campos Coffee, while providing customers’ with the chance to shop a range of unique travel essentials,” he added.

The transformation of T2 will continue in 2018 where a staged improvements program will deliver better wayfinding and improved sightlines, new retail concepts and relaxed dwell areas with a greater sense of space and light.

“We are delighted to be awarded the news and books concession of five locations across T2, Australia’s busiest terminal, extending our long and successful partnership with Sydney Airport. This comes after the renewal of the T3 Travel Essential concession, so 2017 will remain as a milestone for us at Sydney Airport,” said Matthieu Mercier CEO Pacific Lagardère Travel Retail.

In October, Lagardere introduced its latest destination concept stores, ‘Out of Australia’, at the Gold Coast airports international terminal.
