Beauty podcast launches pop-up at Sydney airport

As anyone who listens to Spotify or rides public transport knows, podcasts are everywhere. Now, in an Australian first, the popular storytelling format has crossed over into retail.

Hit Mamamia podcast You Beauty and APGP Retail have announced an exclusive pop-up shop at Sydney Airport’s T2 domestic terminal to run until March 2019.

The shop offers a curated collection of Australian and New Zealand skincare brands including Trilogy, Lanolips and Sukin – perfectly timed for Christmas travel and gifting.

Sydney Airport general manager of retail, Glyn Williams, said the partnership is a key part of the airport’s strategy of delivering unique concepts to customers.

“We’re always looking to the broader market and taking on board customer feedback to deliver a truly exceptional retail experience, so we’re honoured to bring the You Beauty concept to life in another Australian first,” Williams said.

“We’re also extremely proud to support the Australian and New Zealand skincare brands featured within You Beauty’s beautifully designed store. We’re looking forward to seeing our customers enjoy this unique, limited-time experience.”

The idea for the pop-up came about when APGP Retail director Edward Tanzil heard Mamamia founder Mia Freedman speak at a Sydney Airport event.

“I was truly inspired by Mia’s passion and the timing was perfect for a concept tailored to the busy Christmas period,” he said.

“You Beauty is the ideal brand to bring to life at this time of year – it’s fresh and fun, and we know the curated brands will resonate with customers.”

Mamamia executive editor and You Beauty host, Leigh Campbell, described the pop-up as the brand’s “very first store in Sydney” and said the podcast has been successful thanks to its incredibly supportive audience.
