Trio of towers for Brisbane’s CBD

brisbaneA trio of towers that will take Brisbane’s CBD to lofty new heights are about to get the green light.

The three towers, worth $800 million, are expected to be approved by Brisbane City Council on Thursday.

The centrepiece is a 32-storey five-star hotel. It will feature 305 rooms with 12 retail and commercial tenants, five restaurants and an express supermarket.

A 81-storey residential tower and a 39-storey office building are also set to be built on the old Supreme and District Court site.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the George St development – one of the city’s largest integrated developments – would become an iconic CBD landmark.

“The application is of a very high calibre and we expect this exciting development will further define Brisbane as a new world city,” Quirk said in a statement on Tuesday.

“It represents a major $800 million investment which will further drive economic development by creating more than 5000 jobs during construction and international exposure of Brisbane.”
