UK-based grocer and hypermarket retailer Tesco is to offer a clothing range online internationally.
Clothingattesco.com will be launched early this month, offering delivery across EU countries.
F&F, a private clothing label of Tesco is well established and is available in local stores in three EU countries including Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, which Tesco expects will help drive initial online sales in those countries.
France and Spain are also expected to be actively involved in the new clothing range of Tesco due to the large number of British expats residing there.
“Our loyal online following tells us they want to be able to buy fashionable, good value clothes from us and have them sent outside the UK,” said Jill Easterbrook, clothing director of Tesco.
“We think there is a great opportunity to reach British customers who have relocated to countries such as Spain.
“Our customer call centre frequently receives queries from people all over the world asking whether we can deliver to their country.”
Tesco’s online clothing line is established in 2009. It recorded a 45 per cent growth in sales during the last six months.
“By offering a delivery service to customers in a number of European countries not only are we testing the popularity of such a service, but also gauging the response to our clothing offer in these new markets,” Easterbrook said.
