Mango tries again

Spanish fashion chain, Mango, will stock its ranges in David Jones from August, following its failure to gain traction with its own stores in Australia.

The brand, known in Australia as MNG, first hit Australian shores in 2004, opening stores at Westfield Doncaster in Melbourne, and Westfield Bondi Junction and The Galleries in Sydney’s CBD.

It has now has just one remaining store at Melbourne’s QV on Swanston St.

It is unable to use the Mango brand in Australia, as it is owned by Best & Less which produces a childrenswear label using the name.

Despite already trading in Australia for up to eight years, pricing of MNG’s apparel has been an issue for consumers, as is limited ranging in comparison to the brand’s international stores. It will be stocked in all 37 of DJs stores.

Internationally, it has stores in 107 countries.
