Cash Converters appoints CFO
Cash Converters has announced it will replace outgoing CFO Michael Murphy, who took up the position in November 2019, with former Pioneer Credit CFO Leslie Crockett.
Crockett will begin in the role in June 2020, and will be an invaluable addition to the leadership team according to CEO Sam Budiselik, who took the role in February when former-CEO Brendan White stepped down.
The business reported a $1.7 million loss for FY19.
Afterpay hires new marketing chief
Afterpay has hired former Ola marketing chief Andrew Balint as its new VP of marketing for Australia and New Zealand, CMO website reports.
The new recruit reports directly to the Australian payments company’s global CMO, Geoff Seeley, who is based in San Francisco, and is tasked with helping drive the buy now, pay later provider’s next growth phase.
Balint’s appointment comes after the former local CMO, Vicki Aristidopoulos, left the group in December after a two-year stint and the group appointed its first global CMO role in February 2020.
Balint spent the last 18 months as CMO of ridesharing company Ola, where he was recognised for tripling local market share. Prior to this, he spent 15 months as CMO for property start-up Brickx. He also spent seven years with mobile telco provider Amaysim, across marketing and sales.
Other companies on Balint’s CV include Optus, News Corp Australia, eBay and Qantas.
The Australian also reports that Elana Rubin’s September appointment as interim chairman has been made permanent. According to her LinkedIn page, Rubin is a director at Telstra and Slater and Gordon, as well as several unlisted companies and Victorian government authorities.
