Coles has teamed up with drone-delivery service Wing to extend its store-to-door delivery service in selected Gold Coast suburbs.

The expansion follows a successful pilot program in Canberra in March of this year.

The pilot service will be available in Ormeau, Ormeau Hills, and Yatala suburbs and will gradually grow to nearby sites. About 500 popular grocery items including bread, snacks, convenience meals, fresh produce, health care items, and household essentials will be delivered from the Coles store in Ormeau Village Shopping Centre

James Geddes, Coles’s head of network development and customer delivery, said the partnership with Wing is the first-ever store-to-door drone delivery concept in Australia.

“This new service reinforces our commitment to enhancing the way our customers shop with Coles by delivering anytime, anywhere.

“Customers can now get those urgent items they need in a hurry, delivered by drone, directly from the local Coles Ormeau Village store.”

Wing Australia’s GM, Simon Rossi, said the company is investing in a range of pilot programs to help drone delivery at scale, and reach more consumers.

The drone delivery service will be available from November 2.
