Welcome to Inside Retail Weekly Issue 2078

IRWA sneak peak at what’s featured in this week’s issue of Inside Retail Weekly….

If ever there were a prime example of identifying a rising overseas trend and introducing it in your own background to rampant, immediate success, it’d have to be Florrie. The brainchild of three Melbourne women who identified a growing US trend in toy dolls and accessories for young girls, Florrie launched on December 14 with one store in Melbourne. It’s been a runaway success – an e-commerce platform is launching this month, followed by a Sydney store later this year and plans to expand into Singapore in 2017. You can read all about Florrie in this week’s issue of Inside Retail Weekly.

Elsewhere in Features this week, we get up close and personal with a new integrated digital instore concept from Winning Appliances and Samsung that aims to bring excitement back to appliance shopping.

In our Opinion column this week, Jared Dickson forecasts more pain for grocery incumbents, Woolworths, Coles and Metcash, as Aldi and Costco roll out aggressive store expansion plans in 2016. And in News, we flag Disney’s response to digital disruption; how new wearable technology is bringing a human connection to online shopping; and the launch of the Inside Retail jobs board.

You’ll find all of this, and much more, in Inside Retail Weekly Issue 2078.
