Sunglass Hut to open new destination store

sunglasshut_melb_033_2Global sunglass specialty retailer, Sunglass Hut, will open a new destination store in an iconic Melbourne shopping location.

The new store will be located at Bourke St Mall and be 100sqm in size.

It will feature over 1500 pairs of sunglasses, all an assortment of luxury, designer, lifestyle and performance sunglass brands, including iconic eyewear brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley, and leading international designers such as Chanel, Prada, Dolce&Gabbana and Giorgio Armani.

The Sunglass Hut on Bourke, which follows the opening of similar stores in Sydney, New York, London and Los Angeles, will also offer specialised styling consults to assist customers.

“The idea was to create the ultimate shopping destination, an experience, not just another store,” said Phil McNutt, president, Sunglass Hut Australia and New Zealand. “And now that the store is opening, we believe this location reinforces the brand’s connection to Melbourne’s savvy shoppers, in addition to allowing us to present a full product and service assortment.”

Sunglass Hut on Bourke will launch with Melbourne-born international model, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, featured in the retailer’s advertising and front window campaign. The campaign images feature iconic Melbourne locations such as Flinders St Station and laneway – Duckworth Place.

The new store, designed by London based firm Campaign Design, takes inspiration from the local Melbourne environment, with graffiti-inspired urban influences.

The store also features a ‘bling wall’, a sculptural backdrop of light that acts as the ultimate selfie back drop. The bling wall is made from over 150 LED lights which are formed metal domes inspired by the Sunglass Hut mirror disc logo.

Sunglass Hut is one of the retail brands of Luxottica Group.
