Williams-Sonoma will open its second West Elm homewares store in Melbourne on Thursday on Melbourne’s Chapel St.
The first West Elm Store opened in May in Sydney’s Bondi Junction, alongside sister brands Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and Williams-Sonoma.
The Chapel St store is the group’s fifth Australian presence and the first standalone West Elm store outside North America.
Housed in a refurbished two-storey heritage building, the store will have 744sqm of retail space including a West Elm Market coffee shop on the ground floor.
It will employ 30 full time and part time staff.
“The city of Melbourne is a vibrant community with a natural focus on design and innovation, I couldn’t think of a better location for our latest West Elm store,” said Jim Brett, president of West Elm.
“We are confident the broad assortment, globally inspired aesthetic and engaging in-store experience of West Elm will appeal to the design savvy Melbourne customer.”
The opening precedes that of the first West Elm European store scheduled to open in London in November.
