AldiTom Daunt has been appointed to the newly created role of CEO for Aldi Australasia, taking effect April 1, 2015.

Daunt was previously group MD for Aldi Australia.

The new management structure will support Aldi’s expansion both locally and internationally.

Daunt will continue to lead the Australian business, and will be supported in his new role by Stefan Kopp, group MD for Aldi Australia.

Aldi has 361 stores across Victoria, NSW, and Queensland.

Last month, the discount supermarket chain announced it will invest $700 million to build two distribution centres and as many as 120 stores across South Australia and Western Australia.

The distribution centres will be located in Regency Park in SA and Jandakot Airport in WA.

The first stores for each state are expected to open by 2016.
