According to the bookstore chain, it has been a hub for Brisbane book-lovers since it first opened its doors in the area in 1989 and had stores at the Queen Street mall, MacArthur Chambers in Edward Street then Albert Street from 2009 till February 2020.

Dymocks, founded in 1879, celebrated its 140th anniversary last year.
