Australia Post has acquired Rendr, a company that uses algorithms to optimise a business with the nearest possible courier, in a move that could expand same-day delivery.

AusPost said it will now be able to bring same-day delivery options to 90 per cent of the population, adding further delivery windows in the evenings and on weekends.

“This investment is about giving Australian businesses the tools they need to compete with global mega marketplaces, particularly as customers increasingly expect faster delivery options like same-day or even three-hour delivery,” AusPost’s executive GM for parcel, post, and e-commerce services, Gary Starr, said.

“It’s an important step in how we continue to deliver better outcomes for customers and businesses, now and into the future,” he added.

Founded in 2020 by Greg Leibowitz and James Fisher, Rendr will at first continue to operate independently. AusPost is telling merchants to access same-day and on-demand delivery options directly through Rendr, before it plans to integrate the technology into its own platforms.

“Rendr was built to help retailers offer faster, more flexible delivery without adding complexity to their operations. Being acquired by Australia Post gives that capability the scale, reach, and network needed to support more businesses across the country,” Sonney Roth, Rendr CEO, said.
