Super Retail has seen its sales continue rising during the financial year-to-date, with group-wide like-for-like sales for the past 44 weeks up 28 per cent across its four retail brands: Supercheap Auto, Rebel, BCF and Macpac.
During the year so far, Supercheap Auto has seen sales increase 21 per cent compared to the same period of 2020, while sport retailer Rebel’s sales grew 20 per cent.
Macpac’s sales are up 17 per cent, while BCF saw the strongest growth as Australians continue to enjoy outdoor activities following lockdowns, with the boating, camping and fishing specialist’s sales up 59 per cent.
Managing director and chief executive Anthony Heraghty said the group’s brands performed well over the Easter period, and haven’t had to resort to promotional discounting due to strong consumer demand.
“As a result, the gross margin improvement which the Group delivered in the first half has been maintained in the second half,” Heraghty said.
“The Group is in a well-stocked inventory position, which has benefitted from the arrival of orders made in the first half.”
However, shipping costs have increased during the second half due to the continued disruption felt by many Australian retailers, impacting inventory costs.
