Distillery Road Market (DRM) has revealed its new anchor tenant, Perentie Brewing Co, a $6 million brewery specialising in independently crafted lager beers with an adjoining set to open its pub next year.

Kenton Campbell – the developer behind DRM and founder of Zaraffa’s coffee and Tonken Property Group – together with Brennan Fielding – Burleigh Brewing’s founder and master brewer – said they wanted to open a pub that honours the traditional German lager brewing process.

“In 2015, when I acquired the DRM site, I had the vision to build a bespoke brewery housed in its heart that could serve up a sessionable craft lager beer experience, which in my opinion is the heart and soul of beer,” said Campbell.

The pub is inside DRM’s 17,000sqm precinct in Southeast Queensland and will feature a purpose-built brewery and taphouse with the capacity to brew up to 1 million litres.

The outdoor bar precinct – The Deck Bar – will deliver what Campbell describes as “an outside dimension” to the DRM experience, with seating for up to 350.

“When Perentie started to become more than just a dream, I wanted to partner with the best, commissioning Burleigh Brewing’s expertise as market leaders, working with Brennan throughout the entire process,” he added.

The relationship between the DRM and Brennan dates back to 2009 when Burleigh Brewing created the Black Giraffe Black Coffee Lager that harnessed Zarraffa’s Coffee – which Kenton owns. That lager won four World Beer Championship gold medals in the following years.
