Hackers strike David Jones

David Jones, DJs, department storeThe personal details of David Jones’ online customers have been exposed as hackers attacked the department store’s website.

In the second hacking incident affecting a major retailer this week, information including customer names, email addresses, home addresses, and telephone numbers have been accessed.

Kmart revealed on Wednesday that details of its online customers had been hacked in an “external privacy breach.”

In both cases, no credit card details were accessed.

“David Jones has today advised its customers that a third party recently exploited vulnerability in its website to extract limited information about some of our customers,” the company said on a statement on Friday.

There are no signs the accessed information has been misused, David Jones said.

The retailer said it has acted swiftly to prevent further exposure and is working closely with IBM on its internet platform.

Kmart has engaged leading IT forensic investigators.
