E-tailor expands to UK

institchuAustralian online tailor, InStitchu, has expanded its offering into the UK market.

InStitchu, founded by entrepreneurs Robin McGowan and James Wakefield in 2012, enables customers to design made to measure suits, shirts, and accessories online.

The company’s international expansion comes after the online start up secured venture capital funding from Disruptive Capital, the technology focused arm of boutique corporate advisory and investment house, Aura Capital Group, in October last year.

McGowan said he was interested to see how the Brits would take to the model.

“British men are known for their sartorial style, so we’re confident that are made to measure only tailor business will be extremely well received in the UK,” McGowan said.

“We’ve seen over 65,000 designs come out of our online customisation tool here in Australia, with many requests for climate specific suits, like three quarter linings. So we’re looking forward to seeing what our English customers will be keen on.”

InStitchu’s UK-based website will be managed by British entrepreneurs Matthew Hinkley and Elliot Suiter, with the company setting up its head office in South London.

Late last year InStitchu acquired men’s custom dress shoes business, Mantorii.
