Outland Denim and Spell launch collaboration, capsule collection

Sustainable fashion firms Outland Denim and Spell are teaming up to produce a limited edition capsule collection, which will serve as the first of many collaborations between the two brands.

The five-piece collection is made using organic cotton and sustainably-made denim, using 100 per cent vegan materials and water and energy saving technology in Outland Denim’s production facility in Cambodia.

“We’ve spent the last three years mapping our supply chain, and denim has been difficulty to source ethically,” said Spell co-founder Elizabeth Abegg.

“[Through] working with Outland, a brand which exists to eliminate exploitation while also using less natural resources and chemicals in its Cambodian facilities, we’ve been introduced to an entirely new standard of supply chain transparency and responsibility.”

Moving forward, Outland will produce future denim designs for Spell.

“We have a lot of respect for what Spell as created as a brand and, as an extension of that, a community where women can connect,” said Outland Denim founder and chief executive James Bartle.

“Spell has a strong aesthetic and iconic sense of personality, so to see our production house working with [it’s] design lens has been a joy to watch.

“We need to collaborate on solutions if we’re going to revolutionise the fashion industry, if we are going to use it to enrich the lives of people and protect the planet.”
