Cotton On’s suite of brands are launching online-only in the UK – a first for the group – according to FashionUnited.
The group believes there is a significant opportunity for e-commerce-led fashion in the UK, with group chief executive Peter Johnson stating the feedback the brand has received through UK-based marketplaces in recent years made the brand consider a full launch.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the launch, which marks a significant milestone for our brand and our business,” said Johnson.
“We’ve exported our unique Aussie style and optimism to over five continents and 20 countries across the globe and have loved seeing how our customers respond to and embrace our brands.”
Cotton On Kids, Cotton On Body, Factorie, Supre, Rubi and Ceres Life will launch in the region this week, joining stationery brand Typo which launched in 2016.
The business also recently reaffirmed its commitment to local operations with the announcement of an expansion of its Avalon-based distribution centre.
“The Cotton On Group is driven by an obsession with giving our customers the best possible experience,” said CFO Michael Hardwick.
“This facility was designed with a growth footprint in mind, and we are delighted that now is the time to executive on that plan.”
The expansion will bring the total size of the DC to 45,000 sqm and will create up to an additional 100 jobs.
