Facelift for Westfield Chatswood

Westfield ChatswoodScentre Group’s Westfield Chatswood on Sydney’s North Shore will undergo a $110 million redevelopment, with the centre to increase from 77,000sqm to 80,000sqm of gross lettable area.

The project will include a reconfiguration of the existing two level mall facing Victoria Ave into a five level statement entrance that will house new large format and specialty retailers, and an Asian inspired dining market.

The redevelopment will strengthen the centre’s fashion offering, with an expected mix of international and Australian mini major retailers.

Westfield Chatswood will also become the first centre of Sydney’s North Shore to house a Topshop/Topman, which will be a  two level flagship store on the Victoria Ave entrance.

The Asian inspired dining market will be modelled on a marketplace concept and will trade both day and night, it will also link to an outdoor laneway for street food pop ups and other activations against a back drop of urban street art.

The redevelopment will bring a split of around 40 new fashion and food shops and kiosks to the centre as part of both expanded and reconfigured malls.

Westfield Chatswood was last redeveloped in 1999. The centre’s current major retailers are Myer, Target, Zara, Rebel Sport, Coles, Aldi, and a Hoyts cinema.

Alison Pearson, Westfield Chatswood centre manager, said the redevelopment will deliver a world class shopping centre to the North Shore.

“With a mix of new global mini majors, international and urban fashion brands, cutting edge facilities and authentic Asian eateries, we’re thrilled to bring a brand new Westfield Chatswood to our local community. The development will accentuate Chatswood as a bustling CBD by day and vibrant, social hub by night.”

A majority of the retailers are expected to commence trade from late 2015.
