‘Live clean, live large, and love life’ is the motto of Cali Press Juice, the latest player to enter the niche cold press juice market. With one store already trading at Bronte in Sydney, the five co-founders of Cali Press have their sights set on opening a second Sydney storefront within three months. In its first month of trade the business has exceeded all expectations and customer feedback has been “overwhelmingly positive,” says co-founder, Nick Bardetta. “We have plans and
d aspirations to take this concept Australia-wide pretty quickly, because we think it’s a strong and unique concept that hasn’t really been offered to consumers in Australia before,” Bardetta told Inside Retail PREMIUM.
“On the back of the success we’ve seen in the US we’re hoping that it’s got some legs.”
The brand plans to stick to opening stores in coastal locations in line with its laid back, beachside image, and has flagged Perth as an area of interest for its first stores outside of Sydney.
“We were inspired by California and the nostalgia of that golden Californian lifestyle, being by the beach and just a clean, natural way of living,” he said.
The Bronte flagship offers a range of 100 per cent raw, organic, cold press juices, three levels of juice cleanses, and a healthy grab and go style wholefoods menu.
Juices and cleanses are also available for purchase online.
Cold press juicing is the process of pressing pulverised fruit and vegetables at a cold temperature to maximise the extraction of vitamins and nutrients, as opposed to regular juicing where up to 60 per cent of vitamins and minerals can be lost.
“The concept itself was to create a brand and offering which was ultimately about bringing a bit of health to people’s lives, creating a culture and lifestyle brand, and not something that people found intimidating or unattainable,” he said.
Kelvin Ho of Akin Creative is the brains behind the store fitout, which is a bright white, and sky blue embodiment of the brand’s coastal values.
Aside from the Bronte store, Cali Press wholesales to five Sydney locations, with the aim of expand this.
“The wholesale business is something we will dedicate more time and resources to as the business continues to mature and develop,” said Bardetta.
