A popular Sydney delicatessen has undergone a design makeover aimed at creating a ‘fresh presence’ in a shopping mall environment. Pasta Deli Bites, at Northbridge on Sydney’s lower north shore, is located in Northbridge Plaza, an AMP-owned shopping centre. Retail store design Gary Robinson worked closely with Elemental Graphic Design to create what the pair describes as “a successful three dimensional brand”. “It’s a brand the client is intending
ing to expand in the near future,” says Robinson, suggesting more stores will follow around Sydney.
The finished store reflects a ‘modern Mediterranean’ look and feel, appropriate for a contemporary deli site.
“The underlying aim was to create a presence for the client within the centre and in turn provide a strong brand that can be easily taken and established at future locations,” explains Robinson. The materials are deliberately understated – timber, tiles and the slatted bulkhead providing a simple backdrop for the food offers and signage.
At the same time, the store design suggests a level of ‘established and authentic charm’.
