Chain taking shape in UK

Taking ShapeAustralian fashion retailer Taking Shape has begun its British invasion, with plans to expand to 21 stores in the UK by early 2014.

The plus size chain, which has 130 stores in Australia and New Zealand, aims to have 14 stores in the UK by October and 21 by February.

It began its expansion into the UK market this week by opening five stores in “market towns” (suburban locations), such as Horsham and Worcester.

“Market towns suit us. We can build relationships with our customers and build a community, ” says Alla Buinowicz, MD of Taking Shape.

Taking Shape is not the only Australian retailer targeting the UK. Earlier this year, activewear success story Lorna Jane launched a UK website.
