Natural supermarket, About Life, will open its first Melbourne store in April.
Located at Port Melbourne on Bay Street, the ‘holistic lifestyle hub’ will feature a natural grocery supermarket, wholefoods cafe and ready-to-eat servery. The store will also have an in-store wellness expert and concierge.
“Opening our first Melbourne store heralds a new era for us,” said company co-founder, Tammie Phillips. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to share the About Life philosophy with one of Melbourne’s premier urban beachside areas, where health and wellness are real priorities.”
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the company has grown from an independently operated business in 1996 to now have six stores in Sydney located in Bondi Junction, Cammeray, Double Bay, Lane Cove, Rozelle, Surry Hills and the new Melbourne store.
“This is an incredibly exciting stage in About Life’s growth. We have seen huge success in our existing Sydney stores, and Australians have overwhelmingly embraced natural living in recent years,” said Phillips.
The natural and organic industry has seen annual growth of 15 per cent since 2009 according to the Australian Organic Market Report 2014.
“The ‘new healthy’ is a journey of discovery – it is about having a broad perspective of diet; whole foods, clean eating, and locally produced food,” says About Life COO and accredited nutritionist, Vladia Cobrdova.
“While we consider wellness innovations from superfoods to raw, our core focus is on sustainable, ethical, locally sourced produce and a balanced diet.”
