Riot Art & Craft have closed all 56 of its stores and stood all staff down by text message a week after going into liquidation.
The arts and crafts retailer had been reassuring staff that stock was on the way after leaving stores almost bare for weeks, according to 9news, until director Michael Kurc sent a text message last week confirming the business would be shutting down.
“It is with much regret and sadness that we inform you that all of our retail stores… were placed into liquidation this afternoon,” the text reads, as seen by 9news.
“All stores are closed… You will not be required at work tomorrow. The liquidator will be in touch with you regarding your entitlements. A massive thank you for all your years of service.”
The collapse will see around 300 staff impacted, many of which are owed wages, while around 100 unsecured creditors are owed around $8.5 million.
More to come.
