Hudson’s Bay files for bankruptcy: What led to the retail giant’s collapse

On March 7, Canadian retailer Hudson’s Bay Company announced that it would be filing for bankruptcy protection. Under an initial order for creditor protection from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the company has commenced its Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).  The CCAA proceedings will not affect the company’s US division Saks Global, which owns the Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Saks Off 5th chains.
