Haleon, the company behind Panadol, has partnered with Pharmacycle to introduce a national household recycling solution for used medicine blister packs.

Through the program, consumers can order a special satchel online, fill it with empty blister packs from any brand, and return it via Australia Post, using the pre-paid postage label provided.

Pharmacycle says it uses a specialised recycling process that separates the plastic and aluminium components of blister packs, materials that are typically difficult to recycle through standard kerbside services. This process aims to help reduce landfill waste by giving the packaging a second life.

Nagraj Iyer, marketing director at Haleon, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving sustainability and making it more achievable for all Australians.

“This partnership with Pharmacycle helps address a long-standing gap by offering a simple, household solution for blister pack recycling,” said Iyer.

“By removing barriers to participation, we’re making it easier for more Australians to recycle with confidence – whether they’re based in busy cities or in the more remote areas of our country.”

To celebrate the launch, the first 3000 people to register will receive a free recycling satchel.
