Why sales of fine jewellery during Covid defied expectations

With exciting overseas holidays and drinking and dining off the cards in the past year, some consumers have been indulging in other ways and spending their money on discretionary categories such as fine jewellery, which has seen a rise in sales during Covid.  In the US, jewellery sales saw a 106 per cent increase year on year in March which reflects the impact of stimulus payments and the reopening of the economy, according to Mastercard’s SpendingPulse report.
