Melbourne’s new railway infrastructure project – Metro Tunnel – is looking to fill 37 retail tenancies across five new stations.

The tunnel will open in 2025 and will span nine kilometres between South Kensington and South Yarra with stations at Arden, Parkville, State Library and Town Hall in the CBD and Anzac on St Kilda Road.

On behalf of the Cross Yarra Partnership – a consortium comprising Capella Capital, Lendlease, John Holland, John Laing, and Bouygues Construction – Colliers’ Adam Lester, Tom Larwill and Stacey Gaff have been appointed to lease the project.

Colliers’ Adam Lester said each station has its “own unique character” which will inspire the types of retail on offer.

“The evolving landscape of our CBD has increased the reliance on retail amenities, particularly convenience-based retail.

“In the delivery of such an incredible project to support our city’s growing population, the retail component will elevate the commuter experience and ensure Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel delivers a world-class asset for commuters.”

The project will also accommodate the Melbourne Airport Rail which will open in 2029 and also increase the capacity of trains throughout the CBD.
