Typo adds to UK footprint

Typo-Second-store-UKTypo has opened the doors to its second bricks and mortar store in the United Kingdom at The Bentall Centre in Kingston late last week.

Owned by Cotton On Group, the stationery chain has added to its existing UK footprint which includes its store in Stratford Westfield Shopping Centre. The retailer also has an e-commerce platform which launched in April 2016 and processed more than 12,000 orders during its first year.

Typo’s UK Brand Manager, Sally Howard, said the market was responding positively to the brands’ product offering and omnichannel experience.

“Since the opening of our Stratford store in December last year, we’ve seen great traction both in store and online with sales soaring beyond all expectations,” she said.

“We have had over a quarter of a million customers engage with the brand since we launched in the region and we look forward to continuing to bring them a world-class shopping experience,” she said.

According to Typo, Londoners queued for two hours to get a taste of the stationery and giftware brand.

The 115 square meter store interior design incorporates exposed brick walls, timber floors and walls of greenery, with Typo’s range of stationery, travel & tech accessories, bags, lighting, decor items, novelty cards and gifts offered.

In December last year, Bianca Ginns, GM at Typo told Inside Retail that the UK market has seen a significantly higher spend in the stationery category compared with our other regions.
