Shoes of Prey in retail expansion

Shoes of preyCustomised footwear e-tailer, Shoes of Prey, is planning to open its first standalone store at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney.

The retailer is currently advertising for staff, including a retail store manager and shoe stylist, on its website for a new store location at Bondi Junction.

Shoes of Prey opened its first physical store with a concession at David Jones’ flagship Sydney store in January 2013, however, it is understood the new store at Bondi Junction will be the first standalone outlet.

Jodie Fox, co-founder of Shoes of Prey, told Fairfax Media the company was planning to open another store because the David Jones concession been “such a success for the business”.

“I’m in New York City at the moment and really seeing such a trend in [online retailers] heading offline with Warby Parker, Bonobos, Birchbox, and Bauble Bar,” Fox said.

“There is great proof here that supports our thought that retailers need to be wherever their consumers need them to be.”

Earlier this month, the retailer was reported to be seeking up to $5 million from Australian and US investor to fuel international expansion, particularly in the US.

Shoes of Prey has previously raised $4.5 million from investors.
