Myer beefs up digital

Myer continues to improve its digital offering, with the launch of a new Myer One loyalty program smart phone app and the introduction of digital gift cards.

In addition, the department store retailer has adopted Apple Passbook technology and a negotiated a number of strategic collaborations with leading banks in an effort to complement the Myer website.

Myer executive GM retail development, Mark Goddard, said the Myer One smart phone app enables Myer One members to use their smart phone as their loyalty card and receive Myer One rewards directly to their phone.

Myer has also joined with the Commonwealth Bank and ANZ, to provide rewards for customers. The Commonwealth Bank has introduced the Pay with Points initiative, while Myer customers who are ANZ customers will receive a $20 gift card from Myer for every $400 spent at Myer on an ANZ Rewards card.

Myer GM IT, Anthony Coelho, said a number of technological initiatives had been adopted and were being well received by customers.

“The Commonwealth Bank collaboration is market leading point of sale technology with instant redemption functionality. This technology delivers significant convenience to customers,” said Coelho.

“We have recently launched digital Myer gift cards, enabling customers to email Myer gift cards to their family, friends and colleagues. This is perfect for last minute Christmas gifts and so convenient for our customers,” he said.

“These digital Myer gift cards are then available to print or we are excited that they can also now be added directly to Passbook on an iPhone or iPod touch.”

Goddard said the evolution of Myer’s website continues with enhancements including a recommendation engine that provides product suggestions and what other customers are viewing when they purchase, as well as further simplifications to the checkout page.

“We are excited about the strong pipeline of further improvements still to come,” said Goddard.

“In line with our strategy of delivering a leading Australian omni-channel offer, we will continue to align ourselves with the best suppliers and innovative partners to deliver convenience and inspiration to our customers using the latest technology available,” he said.
