Fire threatens Spotlight factory

SpotlightA fire which started in a stack of wooden pallets has threatened a Spotlight factory in Melbourne.

Around 50 firefighters worked for more than an hour on Tuesday afternoon to bring the blaze in Laverton North under control.

They used a mechanical loader to pull apart pallets and factory stock and gain access to the flames, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade said.

Fifty workers were evacuated from the factory as smoke billowed over surrounding suburbs.
