Dick Smith’s Move stores at Sydney airport are set to close, after receivers were unable to find a buyer for the duty free locations.
The four Move airport stores were exempt from the announcement last week that all 363 Dick Smith and Move stores in Australia and New Zealand will close.
However, the four ‘fashtronics’ stores, which were designed to target young, affluent female shoppers, will also stop trading.
“Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement to sell the Move Airport assets and have no option but to close the stores located at Sydney International Airport effective from today,” said receiver, James Stewart.
Approximately 48 staff, including part-time and casuals, are employed at the stores, and where possible will be offered redeployment within the remaining Dick Smith stores before they close.
Earlier this week receivers, Ferrier Hodgson, advertised for sale Dick Smith’s online businesses, brands and trademarks, customer databases, websites and domain names.
