“We have thrived in very challenging times while many of our competitors have struggled or failed. In discussions with Mark, he indicated his desire to commit more time to his family than the demands of his role allow. After a decade in the CEO role, I understand and fully support Mark’s decision to leave for personal reasons.”
A search has now begun for a new executive to take over from McInnes. Premier Investment’s stable of brands include the Just Group, Dotti and Smiggle.
Briscoe Group appoints new director
NZ retail group Briscoe has appointed Mark Callaghan as its new independent non-executive director.
Callaghan takes over from Mary Devine, who left the board in 2019.
Group chair Dame Rosanne Meo said the search for an additional director took longer than anticipated due to the challenges encountered during the pandemic.
“With Mark’s appointment I am confident that the Briscoe Group board of directors will have an excellent balance of the attributes required to meet the future needs of the business,” Meo said.
Callaghan, who currently serves as chief executive officer of Phytomed Medicinal Herbs Ltd, the independent non-executive chairman of Office Products Depot and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, also has experience across a number of notable FMCG organisations including Frucor Beverages and Cadbury Schweppes and has held a variety of positions from marketing to CEO to board director.
Canada Goose names Asia Pacific division president, new board member
Canada Goose has appointed new additions to its board of directors. Scott Cameron, who joined the Toronto-based outerwear brand in 2016, has been named president of the company’s newly formed Asia Pacific division and will take on the role from April 1. Michael Armstrong, who has been at the company for 22 years, has been appointed as an independent director.
Cameron most recently served as president of the Greater China region and was responsible for the development and growth of the brand’s direct-to-consumer channels globally. In this new role, he will be responsible for the company’s overall marketing and commercial activity within the expanded APAC region, which includes Greater China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Armstrong currently serves as executive vice president at Worldwide Television Licensing & Operations, ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.
“Scott has been instrumental in ensuring the highest level of operational excellence throughout our stores globally, building our business in Greater China and providing an exceptional level of support to the executive team for the past five years,” said Dani Reiss, president and CEO of Canada Goose.
“This appointment is a reflection of his relentless efforts and the success he has helped to drive in the region.”
Reiss said they are also looking forward to Armstrong’s contributions as a Canada Goose board member, drawing on his extensive expertise in business development and operations throughout the entertainment industry and the world.
“I am confident that his vast entertainment experience will provide a valuable perspective as we continue to execute on our long-term growth strategy,” Reiss said.
Macy’s appoints chief merchandising officer
Department store chain Macy’s, Inc. has appointed Nata Dvir as its new chief merchandising officer, effective February 1. She will take over from Patti Ongman, who plans to retire at the end of the 2020 fiscal year.
In her new role, Dvir will be responsible for leading Macy’s Merchandising, with oversight of all merchandising categories and private brands.
Dvir, who currently serves as Macy’s senior vice president and general business manager for Beauty and Center Core merchandise, will report to Macy’s chair and CEO Jeff Gennette.
