Department store David Jones has launched a re-sale clothing initiative called Reloop in partnership with fashion rental company GlamCorner.

The service works by allowing customers to opt-in to ‘re-commerce’ their purchases at a later date on the website. The platform will provide customers with the option to resell, rent, repair or recycle their clothes.

Bridget Veals, David Jones GM of womenswear, footwear and accessories, said the company is committed to ethical, environmental and climate-conscious practices in the retail space.

“Through the Reloop initiative, we hope to educate our customers on renting, resale and donation options whilst providing a seamless solution to make climate-conscious shopping easy. This is another step to show our ongoing commitment to reducing fashion waste and supporting the transition to the circular economy of the future,” she said.

Audrey Khaing-Jones, COO and co-founder of GlamCorner added that Reloop was developed to commemorate the company’s 10th year in circular fashion.

“After a decade in the industry, we saw an opportunity to make our circular fashion platform available to empower brands, retailers and individual consumers so that together we can accelerate the transition towards a more circular and sustainable future,” said Khaing-Jones.

The initiative will be implemented across David Jones’ shopping platform to support sustainability-savvy customers. Reloop also offers a premium concierge and end-to-end service managing the entire process from collection, listing and reselling of items nationwide.

For clothing items that are not resaleable, customers are offered an option to donate their items via the business’ service partnership with a not-for-profit organisation, Dress for Success.
