Bassike has opened a Melbourne flagship in the suburb of Armadale, a 170sqm space the fashion brand describes as “urban inspired”.
Designer Akin Atelier combined a “rich and inviting colour palette of timber and moss green, with darker wood tones” to create a warm 1970s feel, intended to reflect the urban Melbourne landscape. The style is a contrast to the brand’s Sydney stores which are designed to convey more of a coastal feel.
“It was important to us that the new Armadale store maintained the signature minimalist bassike aesthetic, while being true to the vibrant city culture in Melbourne,” said co-founders Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan.
“Textured fabrications and plush accents create a sense of lived-in warmth and personality that just makes you feel right at home as soon as you step through the door.”
Bassike sells womenswear, menswear, denim, shoes and accessories made in Australia. In the Melbourne store it called on fellow Climate Active Carbon Neutral-certified brand Jardan on furnishings, including a sculptural modular sofa and a hand-knotted rug to soften concrete flooring.
“As a B Corp and Climate Active Carbon Neutral certified organisation, we’re conscious of the partners that we work with across every facet of our business. Supporting locally made interiors and brands that align with our ethos was another key consideration in the creation of our new Armadale store,” said Sams and Ryan.
The main spaces of the new Armadale store resemble a mid-century home with open spaces, natural light and oak joinery.
A private seating and dressing area is accessed via a hidden stairwell to elevate the luxury client experience.
