Top Christmas gifts revealed

christmas_tree-PresentsLego, sports tickets, and iPads are expected to sell out this Christmas, but nobody is hoping for socks or undies in their stockings.

According to a survey by Sydney’s Broadway Shopping Centre, it could also be an expensive festive season.

One in five Australians are predicting they’ll spend 75 per cent of their pay packets on Christmas presents and preparations this year.

Six per cent of men and three per cent of women have increased their credit card limit or taken out a loan for Christmas spending.

This statistic is the highest amongst those aged between 25 and 29 years old.

Over a third of men say that they expect to complete their Christmas shopping in half a day, with a further seven per cent even saying they’d spend “an hour at the most”.

More than half of all women reported they expect to spend between 72 and 168 hours in their search for the perfect gifts for family and friends.

When it came to the top stocking fillers this year, the shopping centre found Apple’s iPad Mini with Retina Display ranked as a top tech gift.

Exercise gear, weight loss products, underwear, and socks were ranked as the worst ever gift ideas.

Just two per cent of Australians said they won’t be buying Christmas presents this year.
