JB Hi-Fi has appointed Wai Tang as a non-executive director with effect from September 14. Tang has been appointed to the board as an additional appointee ahead of the company’s annual general meeting where she will stand for election.
The company also announced non-executive director, James King, will retire following the company’s annual general meeting on October 29.
King joined the board in May 2004 and was chairman of the company between May 2006 and September 2007.
Greg Richards, chairman of the company, thanked King for his service to JB Hi-Fi. “Jim has made a significant contribution to JB Hi-Fi. His experience, expertise and advice have been great value to the business as it has gone from strength to strength over the past 11 years.”
Tang has extensive retail experience in supply chain and operations management. She was the operations director for the Just Group and also CEO for Peter Alexander Sleepwear (part of Just Group). Prior to joining Just Group she was GM of business development for Pacific Brands. Tang founded the Happy Lab gourmet confectionary business and is also a non-executive director of Federation Centres, Kikki K and the Melbourne Festival. Her past board positions include non-executive directorships with Specialty Fashion Group and the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
