Ikea Australia launches same day click and collect

ikeaIkea has rolled out a same day click and collect service in Canberra, looking to tap into the large online market in the nation’s capital.

A huge volume of Ikea stock, equivalent to two Olympic swimming pools, has already been sold online in Canberra since November 2017 through click and collect and home delivery.

“We know that our customers want even more convenience when they shop with Ikea and that’s why we’ve brought in a same day service,” said Michael Donath, Ikea Australia multichannel manager.

“Canberrans can’t get enough of the Ikea online shopping service, and since click and collect was launched five months ago there has been strong take up for the service,” Donath said.

The Swedish furniture brand has found many customers who use the click and collect service also shop in the store before collecting their goods

The busiest day since the November launch was Australia Day, where sales of outdoor furniture sales doubled the week prior.

ACT online customers are late night shoppers with almost 10 per cent of orders being placed between 10pm and 6am, with purchases ranging from entire kitchens through to single products; the first product sold was an outdoor table and two chairs and the second product was a Christmas tree.
