Sydney-based chain, The Cupcake Bakery, has been placed in administration.

Administrators Brent Kijurina and Richard Albarran from Hall Chadwick were appointed to the business on March 5.

The Cupcake Bakery, which was launched by husband and wife team Alex and Angela Perry in 2006, opened its first store in 2007.

According to The Cupcake Bakery’s website it currently has four stores trading in Sydney, and one store in Melbourne.

The first creditors meeting is scheduled for March 17 in Sydney.
