Beacon Lighting’s record half year

Beacon-LightingBeacon lighting have announced net profit (NPAT) of $11.1 million for the 26 weeks ending 27th December 2015, representing an increase of 22.1 per cent on 2014’s H1 FY results.

Sales increased by 8.5 per cent to 98.5 million, with the company asserting store comparative sales were the most significant contributor to overall sales with 5.1 per cent growth over H1 FY2015. Operating expenses fell as a percentage of sales by 0.5 per cent.

Gross profit dollars increased 11.5 per cent resulting in gross profit margin of 65.9 per cent. The lighting retailer says this was driven by ‘innovative new products, effective price management and a favourable foreign exchange position.’

EBITDA was up 21.4 per cent to $17.5 million with the group declaring a fully franked dividend of 2.3 cents for H1 FY2016.

The company says continued reinvestment in the business, with new stores, franchised store acquisitions and major IT projects, has culminated in the retailer maintaing ‘a strong cash position’ and conservative balance sheet. Beacon opened new stores in Queensland and Victoria late in H1 Fy2016. This was coupled with the purchase and conversion of franchise stores into company operated stores within Victoria.
