Online appliance retailer probed after orders go unfulfilled

Online retailer Home Appliances Plus is facing investigation in two states after a raft of consumer complaints about undelivered goods.

AConsumer Victoria and NSW’s Fair Trading office have received some 70 complaints from patrons, related to the trader’s failed delivery promises.

Home Appliances Plus sells discounted household items, children’s toys, outdoor and sporting equipment, and pet goods. Its distribution warehouse is located in Port Melbourne and the business’ website says orders will “typically” arrive within the estimated shipping timeframes.

For Victoria, orders are expected to arrive between 5 to 10 working days; NSW, South Australia and ACT can expect orders between 10 to 14 working days while delivery can take up to 14 to 18 working days for customers from Queensland, the NT and Tasmania.

“If a store or seller fails to supply a product the consumer has paid for, the consumer is entitled to a refund of any money they have paid,” a Consumer Affairs Victoria spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald.

They reiterated consumers who buy online have the same rights as those who buy in-store.
