After opening its newest store this week, Melbourne chain Daniel’s Donuts says it plans to expand its network from 25 stores to 40 by the end of this year.

The latest store is at Hogan’s Corner in Hoppers Crossing, the site of the company’s first bakery. It trades from 5am to midnight.

The company purchased the Hogan’s Corner space to add to its 25 other locations in Victoria. The next sites on the aggressive expansion plan include Southern Cross Station and Melbourne Airport.

Owner Daniel Bartalotta established the chain’s first store in 2016, and it now offers more than 50 different flavours of donuts, including Vegan and Gluten Free versions. The brand also sells pies, coffee, milkshakes and cakes.

The company’s breakthrough came after Bartalotta created the locally famous hazelnut donut, selling thousands of them every day – and using 2.4 tonnes of hazelnut spread every week – helping to make the site the busiest bakery in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Last month, Daniel’s Donut launched a new store at BP Williams while in June it opened an outlet next to the Coles supermarket at Chadstone Shopping Centre.
