Stockland centre hosts Facebook party

The digital world met bricks and mortar when Stockland Merrylands hosted a Facebook Party in the centre this week.

Stockland Merrylands used Facebokk to invite ‘likers’ to the event – a three hour centre-wide sale.

On the night, secret sales and special offers were published on the Facebook page at 4pm, two hours before the event commenced. Customers used their mobile devices to “check in‟ and get the inside scoop on the secret Facebook sales.

About 40 secret Facebook retailer sales were held from national and independent retailers, including Angus & Coote, Best & Less Kids, Betts Shoes, Cotton On, Crossroads, Crust Pizza, Forcast, Jay Jays, Jeanswest, Katies, Prouds, Tarocash, Yd and many more.

A paparazzi photographer roamed the centre capturing photos of customers in stores and walking the red carpet. The DJ playing outside JB Hi-Fi created a party atmosphere with customers grooving along as they shopped the secret sales.

Prizes and giveaways were given to Facebook fans via the page on the night and promotional staff roamed the centre assisting customers. A total of more than $1500 in Gift Card prizes were handed out from Payless Shoes, Hijab House, Travelworld Merrylands and A Rumours Hairdressing.

Craig Piper, centre manager, said the captivating event was a distinctive and successful introduction into the digital realm.

“The Facebook Party was executed well and created a buzz. The event combined the marketing elements that our team is focused on – targeted marketing, digitally focused, retailer centric, and experience driven – all in a highly measureable format.

“Our customers were engaged on a new level, requesting that more of these events are held in the future,” he said.
