The newly opened House of Hoops store by Foot Locker is aiming to become the “basketball destination for Australia”.

Opened last month, the store is the first of its kind for the Australian market and is located on Murray St in Perth’s CBD.

The US-based sportswear company opened the first House of Hoops, in collaboration with Nike, in New York in 2007.

The local store, which is also the first in the southern hemisphere,  follows a similar design to its international counterparts including court style floors as well as artwork of basketballers such as LeBron James and Michael Jordan. The store also houses exclusive Nike apparel and footwear.

“We were thrilled to bring House of Hoops by Foot Locker to Perth last month and have seen Australia’s true basketball fans embrace the store concept since its opening,” says Phill Laing, MD of Foot Locker Australia said.

“This is the 107th ‘House of Hoops’ by Foot Locker in the world and the first in the southern hemisphere, making it a huge milestone for Australia,” Laing said.

“We’re excited to see the growth of House of Hoops by Foot Locker culture in Perth and are pumped with the look of the store fit-out and exclusive baller product available.”

In October, Foot Locker’s Indooroopilly store in Queensland became the retailer’s first Australian store to convert to its new US fitout.

First opened in 1974, Foot Locker has more than 4000 stores worldwide, with almost 100 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand.
