A grandly branded entrance

central_sydney_asusElectronics brand, Asus, is lighting up Sydneysiders’ daily train commute with an interactive tunnel.

The installation at one entrance of Sydney’s Central train station features LED strips triggered by the movement of passengers.

The purple-hued tunnel was installed last week to celebrate the release of Asus’ new Transformer series laptops.

The 28,000 LED pixels are powered by a Asus laptop and Intel processer, in a display of the new laptops’ capabilities.

“We wanted to build on the theme of transformation by taking an everyday space and transforming it into something fun and visually stunning” says Charith Moonesinghe, marketing manager at ASUS.

Asus isn’t the only brand to have transformed entrances or passageways in Australia in 2013.

As reported by Inside Shopper, home fragrance brand, Airwick, transformed several escalators into a scented experiences in July.

The campaign for a new candle targeted visitors at three Westfield shopping centres via scented, velvet lined escalator installations.

After experiencing the installation, shoppers were given a discount coupon for the candle to redeem at Woolworths supermarkets.

The FMCG brand subsequently experienced a 700 per cent sales increase in Australia, albeit off a base of zero sales.

AMP Capital’s Macquarie Centre in Sydney also used an escalator campaign to welcome its newest tenant, Strike Bowling, this month.

The centre’s escalators are branded with large stickers to look like bowling alleys for a six week period over Christmas.
