Flight Centre acquires Indian travel group
Travel Tours Group has a strong leisure travel presence in key South India markets of Bengaluru and Chennai, and will complement Flight Centre’s offerings in the country’s north and west, Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said.
The Indian travel group generated total transaction value of $150 million in FY16, while Flight Centre’s business in the country reached $419 million.
Based on FY16 results, the combined India business would have surpassed Flight Centre’s South African operations to become their sixth largest country by sales behind Australia, US, UK, Canada and New Zealand.
“This will enhance FLT’s scale in sectors where it already has a strong or emerging presence, including corporate travel, FX and MICE, and give the company a stronger platform for growth in key leisure sectors,” said Graham Turner, MD, Flight Centre.
“TTG has a strong leisure travel presence in the key South India markets of Bangaluru and Chennai, which will complement FLT’s Flight Shops offering in the country’s north and west.
